MathsIn what can be described as a major milestone in understanding Islam, research results of CSPI are illuminating and disturbing by Sakshi Research Team.

Many would have laughed when the Center for the Study of Political Islam (CSPI) undertook the study of the Koran, the Sira and the Hadith by applying statistics. But the results of their painstakingly rigorous researches are not so laughable. In what can be described as a major milestone in understanding Islam, these research results of CSPI are illuminating and disturbing.

One of the conclusions that these scholars have reached is about the nature of Islam. Islam, according to them, is political in nature with very little religious message. For example, let us take an interesting statistics on hell. In many religions, hell is a place where morally corrupted and theological destructive people would go after their death. But not so in Islam. Bill Warner, the director of CSPI note that out of the 146 references of hell in Koran, 96% of the reasons are political (disagreement with Mohammed) and only 4 % of the reasons are ethical. To put this in perspective, of the 10 commandments in the Bible, the four are theological and six are ethical in nature.

Again, take for example the much discussed subject, the meaning of jihad. Does jihad mean war or inner struggle?

Warner notes:

“Let’s turn to Bukhari (the Hadith) for the answer, as he repeatedly speaks of jihad. In Bukhari 97% of the jihad references are about war and 3% are about the inner struggle. So the statistical answer is that jihad is 97% war and 3% inner struggle. Is jihad war? Yes—97%. Is jihad inner struggle? Yes—3%.”   Even more interesting is the content of the foundational texts of Islam.

Warner observes:

At least 75% of the Sira (life of Mohammed) is about jihad. About 67% of the Koran written in Mecca is about the unbelievers, or politics. Of the Koran of Medina, 51% is devoted to the unbelievers. About 20% of Bukhari’s Hadith is about jihad and politics. Religion is the smallest part of Islamic foundational texts” (FrontPage Magazine, February 5, 2007).

However, there are many more disturbing findings also. Let us take a look at the number of people killed by Muslims in jihad. In his article ‘Ethical Basis of War’ (New English Review, January, 2007); Bill Warner gives the following figures.

These figures are a rough estimate of the death of non-Muslims through the political use of jihad.

Africa

Islam ran the wholesale slave trade in Africa. About 25 million slaves were delivered to the market. But the wars to obtain slaves killed about 120 million, including the young, old, and sick left behind. 120 million Africans killed.

 Christians

The total number of Christians martyred by Islam is about 60 million.  60 million Christians killed.

Hindus The country of India today is only half the size of ancient India, due to jihad.  80 million Hindus killed.

Buddhists

Jihad killed the Buddhists in Turkey, Afghanistan, along the Silk Route, and in India. The total is roughly 10 million. 10 million Buddhists killed.

Total 270,000,000 killed This gives a rough estimate of 270 million killed by jihad.

The civilizational war of Islam against the ethics of unity has been very successful. Ethics of unity have been eliminated from
North Africa, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. Jihad works and works well.

There are even more disturbing findings by Bill Warner and other scholars. That in another article.
