TimothyTwenty first century celebrates success; success in sports, business, profession, personal and family life are everyone’s dream.  However God measures success in an entirely different manner.  A abusive alcoholic husband becoming a sober, kind, follower of Christ Jesus leading his family towards a destiny, is success! by Daniel Grimmer.

The Bible is the book of success. God longs to bless you with success and blessings.  Success, prosperity and blessings on those who obey and follow Jehovah-Jireh, the Mighty God. Scripture guarantees success to those who would totally commit themselves to God and His will. God’s invitation to success and blessing is universal.  He invites anyone and everyone to succeed in life and work.

God promised life-long success to Joshua provided he would hold on to God’s Word, obey His eternal principles and live according to what is written in it.  Then, Joshua would prosper and will have good success. Joshua 1:8.  God offers His blessings of success to you.

Twenty first century celebrates success; success in sports, business, profession, personal and family life are everyone’s dream.  However God measures success in an entirely different manner.  A abusive alcoholic husband becoming a sober, kind, follower of Christ Jesus leading his family towards a destiny, is success!.  A shy young teenager overcoming her timidity to share her testimony of how she broke her addition over TV serials is success!!.  A new believer encouraging  a 70-year old lady to water baptism is success!!!

One of my dreams was to run a Bible School in Abu Dhabi for the lay pastors and church leaders who had not acquired formal training. Despite work schedules, time restraints, venue availability and various personal demands, a group of seven men and women out of the twenty eight from eight churches successfully completed the certificate level course!  The successful graduates come form four nations – Ethiopia, India, Nepal and Philippines!. A Nepali leader recently returned to his home town in Eastern Nepal to serve the Lord in missions and church planting!!

Three years ago, the founder and international director of Operation Mobilization, George Verwer handed over the 50-year old growing movement with 4000 members working in more than 70 nations, to his assistant and co-worker Peter Maiden. This is considered as one of the most successful models of fruitful succession in the 21st century, setting a trend for other organizations and even churches to hand over the work to their successors.

This is the biblical model of succession. Moses handed over the second phase of leading the Jews  to Joshua. Prophet Samuel succeeded Eli. Solomon successfully succeeded David. And on it continues…  But the greatest successful succession is the more than 2000 year old divine dynamic movement, the Church, the Body of Christ, entrusted by the Founder of the Church, our Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples – and now in the 21st century to us!!!

God has entrusted the Church with many gifts.  God has blessed His Family with abilities, ministry skills and positions of influence and authority.  If you are serving in any area in your local church, or in any area of work, even in a behind-the-scene support ministry, you must enable successful succession by raising up Timothys just as Paul did.

Disciple, mentor and coach them to be successful. Invest yourself into your Timothy.  Eventually as God promotes you to another level of service, skill and position, your Timothy is equipped-prepared to take over what you were doing.  That is the biblical model of successful succession.  Personally I will work with the a “Timothy” from the Ministry Maturity Team of a local church who is entrusted, prepared and dedicated to carry the task of continuing the Bible School to impart diploma level teaching to more students much more effectively than I was doing.  Do you have a Timothy?  Who is your Timothy?
