Home ComingNagaiah was once a RSS activist occasionally troubling Christians. But when he saw his creator, he decided to return to his Heavenly Home. He now works as a Brethren evangelist and apologist helping many to return to Heavenly Home.  Jerry Thomas interviews Nagaiah.

Jerry Thomas: Welcome brother. It has always been a pleasure to work with you and now it is my privilege to interview you. Let us begin with your family background.

Nagaiah: I was born to Brahmin parents in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. My father Eshwariah (Eshwar- another name of the Hindu god Shiva) named me Nagaiah to remind the snake garland around Shiva’s neck.  I have four brothers and two sisters.

I grew up with a deep passion for Hinduism. I became a RSS activist and worked along with Venkala Rao of Mahabubnagar district.

Jerry Thomas: Why did you become a RSS activist? How did you view Christianity at that time?

Nagaiah: I became a RSS activist because of my passion for Hinduism. I was very proud about my religion at that time. I did not know much about Christianity at that time. But I surely hated it as I considered it as a foreign religion. There were occasions were I had beaten up pastors and evangelists and obstructed Christian activities.

Jerry Thomas: How did you then become a Christian?

Nagaiah: One day my mother fell sick. To get healed, she started going to a Christian prayer group. She was not a Christian at that time. But she wanted to be healed. It was a small gathering in a neighborhood house.

I became angry and upset with this- that my mother should go to a Christian prayer group. I decided to go to that prayer group and abuse them. But by the time I reached that house, it was heavy rain and I had no umbrella. Lady who was leading the prayer came out and invited me to the house. Since I did not want to stay in the rain, I went inside and sat.

When the prayer meeting was going on, the lady quoted a reference from the Bible- Matthew 29:18. I checked and there was no such reference in the Bible. That lady was illiterate and she was quoting the reference from her memory. But I became really angry and told that “you Christians are liars and corrupt your scripture.” This reinforced my belief that Christians use lies and deception to promote their religion.

Jerry Thomas: Interesting. So what happened after that?

Nagaiah: So I decided to get a copy of the Holy Bible and find deception in the life of Jesus Christ and expose it. Also I wanted to see the corruptions in the Holy Bible. I got a copy of the Bible from a friend’s house. I took two sticks and carried the Bible with that. I did not want to touch the Bible and pollute myself.

I used to turn the pages with sticks. When I read the lofty preaching of Jesus Christ, I thought “you Jesus, you preach so highly, let me find faults with your life and expose it”. But when I completed the Gospels, I could not find any fault in Him. I continued reading the Epistles and as I read more, I was troubled that I am not finding any fault in Jesus Christ.

Then I came to 2 Thessalonians 1. I started reading the verses 5 onwards:

“Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.”

I was convicted of my own deeds and greatly troubled by the verse. I immediately fell on my knees and asked forgiveness to Jesus and accepted Him as my savior.

I became the first in my family to accept Jesus Christ. Later my parents, sisters and brothers including my grandmother who is now with the LORD accepted Christ.

Jerry Thomas: I am now reminded about the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). Once we were all like that prodigal son- away from our real home and Heavenly Father. But the moment we decided to return to our Heavenly Father, He runs towards us with compassion, hugs us as we are and welcomes us to our Heavenly home without any penalty for our past deeds when we were in alien faiths. This is truly a remarkable home coming story.

How did RSS friends react?

Nagaiah: I had many threats from them asking me to return to Hinduism. But why would I go away from my Heavenly Home? I was in intermediate at this time. Later when I went for graduation, RSS friends from my place informed RSS activists around the college that “such and such person is coming to this college”. But the college was in the hands of AISF at that time. So RSS could not do anything to me. Now, there are no issues.

Jerry Thomas: Why did you become an evangelist?

Nagaiah: I worked for sometime after I accepted Christ. But I had a great desire to share the Gospel of Jesus to my former group and Muslims. I want them to enjoy the delightful eternal life that I am enjoying now. I studied apologetics with this intention- to share the Gospel in a meaningful while clarifying the misunderstandings that I too once had.

Jerry Thomas: God bless you brother. Thanks so much for sharing your testimony and desire. May our Gracious Heavenly Father use you to make many more return to their Heavenly Home.

Nagaiah: Thank you brother for having me.
